<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This may came too late, but here's one official way to bypass the OS incompatibility message:<br>1. Right click the *.exe file that you've downloaded (the driver installation file)<br>2. On the right-click menu selection, scroll to the bottom and click on "Properties".<br>3. You'll see some tabs in the Properties window that pops up. Click on the "Compatibility" Tab.<br>4. Tick the "Run this program in Compatibility mode for" checkbox, and select the OS that the driver supports.<br>5. Click the "Apply" button.<br>6. Click "OK".<br>7. Now double-click on the *.exe file again to install the driver, and follow the steps for installation.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dear Jürgen,</p><p>I am a finnish artist, and I am currently working on a film piece on old stereoviews. Most of them depicting the Grand Canyon. In the film I am creating a parallel between the language used to describe the stereoviews and the language used to describe 3D modelling. I would really like to use in the film one of your 3D images of the Grand Canyon, to create a visual link between the stereoviews and 3D modelling of the same place. Would you give me permission to use one of your images? The image would of course be credited to you in the credits of the piece. Particularly the first one of your vector images could be interesting. Obviously I would need it in higher resolution if you agree to its use in the film.</p><p>Looking forward to your reply,<br>all best,<br>Jani</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi Juergen,</p><p>I've been trying to find a contact address for you to discuss your program GET. I've been workng on a maritime equivilant of VATSIM for about a year now and just got the website up and going( http://www.fsnavnet.com ) in January of this year. I'm not a programmer in the lest bit and I was interested in possibly using your program to create a "ship tracker" feature for the website. I played with it for about 4 days and I thing I finally got it to work, I just need confirmation from someone with a different machine not part of my network to see if they see the traffic. If so I'd like to talk to you about resaearching the source files you made available in order to possibly modifiy certain elements so they are maritime based. Please pm me or let me know if you get this comment as I will check the email notifications for this page to let me know you've answered.</p><p>Thanks for your time!!!</p><p>AJ</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As for all the issues with Pre 2 and 3: I'm aware of the issues. I'll try to get out a fix a soon as possible, so you all at least have a working app again.</p><p>Still you should be aware of two things: I'm currently working on a new version of QR deCODEr which does all the decoding on the device itself instead of relying on a backend server infrastructure. This will speed up things a lot and allow for offline decoding without an internet connection. As a second thing though, you should know, that given all the fuss about the future of WebOS and the really poor and horrible show HP has been staging over the last few months, continuing development for WebOS is hardly my top priority. So to be honest, it might take some time to get out the new version.</p><p>I hope you all can understand that.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thank you for the feedback. Actually, the app should be able to detect the absence of a network connection. Seems there is some kind of a bug here. I'll have a quick look into it, though I can't promise you a quick fix. I'm in the process of rewriting the app to do the decoding on the device itself without any need to send the picture to some server to be decoded there. So I'm hoping to be able to release a completely revised, offline version of the app very soon.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>OK, sorry, after I sent that previous message I realize that I hadn't actually tested the web connection on the phone; it was broken at the firewall. The app must not have a timeout on the RPC for decoding the image? I left the phone for a couple of hours this morning to see if it ever returned and it never did. Once I realized the problem and got the firewall issue fixed I got one "server overloaded" error and then after restarting the app I got a successful decode. Disconnecting the Wi-Fi completely results in the same lack of completion (so it doesn't detect that there is no network at all).</p><p>Thanks for the app!</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hello Jurgen,</p><p>I'm trying to use your app on my Palm and I've read through all the help (but being a programmer who has played with QR codes for a while I knew most of it). I have yet to have the program decode a single QR code. It is just stuck on "Decoding QR Code" and never times out, errors, or completes with a decoded value. I've taken dozens of images following your instructions exactly. I'm thinking that since it doesn't "fail" it is actually not working correctly? I am running it on an original Palm Pre with WebOS 1.4.5. This phone is not currently in service, so I'm running it in Airplane mode with Wi-Fi only. (I'm testing our company's generated QR codes.)</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi, I just downloaded the QR deCODEr and I was able to use it for the first time without any trouble. I have a question regarding using it for future use though: I took a photo of a code for a program to send a text message to someplace. After taking the photo, QR deCODEr successfully scanned and coded all of the information, so that the destination number for where to send the text appeared, as well as any text that needed to be added in the beginning of the message. My question for you is how can I use this to send a future text message to the same place. In other words, what happened to that code that I took the picture of? I can no longer find it in the QR deCODEr or in the photos section of my phone. When I attempted to send a text to that same sender, the number was not store in my phone. So, is something like this (QR deCODEr) really for one time use only or do people have to take a photo of the code each time they wish (in my case) to send a text to this sender? Sorry, but this is my first time using this technology!</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I just downloaded the QR deCODEr app from the app store and read this page, snapped the picture and it did not take long at all to get the results from your sample QR coded image. When I see one of these images out and about I am definitely going to point and shoot! Thanks for the work on the app! Like all the other comments I've seen about it, it is too bad that the images can't be decoded locally and that the Palm Pre camera isn't the best. Overall, I still think this was a great app.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>VERY nice comment :)</p><p>Your are right, prior to this method the IPK was downloaded. Now, it all happens on the device, it's actually not a really big threat. Lets hope Palm will let us have this little workaround until they fix the submission process or get rid of the geo-filtering once and for all. There's actually a reason for this post and my tool *hint*</p><p>So, I couldn't agree more on your priority list for Palm. Until then, check back on the above link soon.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I know about your little IPK fetcher tool. It's the reason I own a backup copy of some of the EA games that were available for free throughout Europe till the end of march ;) Without it, I'd long have had to pay to redownload these apps since I just doctored my Pre yesterday.</p><p>But this also explains why Palm had to react. The IPK fetcher tool did pose a much greater threat, allowing you to localy save apps on your computer, reinstall them even if they are no longer officially available via the app catalog or just unpack the IPK and have a look at the source of any app which, considering it's all HTML, CSS and JS tends to be quite readable, etc. Palm obviously had to take care of this.</p><p>As for the method I describe in my blog post, it really just allows you to bypass regional filtering and that only for free apps. It's still Palm's App Catalog app, that does the actual downloading to the encrypted file system, so there's no (simple) way locally backup these apps or directly access the IPKs / source code within them.</p><p>That said, I really hope that Palm decides to leave this "backdoor" open for a while, at least until they straighten out their app submission process and stuff to get the rest of the world on par with the US app catalog. I realize that based on the functionality of an app, copyright restrictions, etc. there are reasons why some apps should be limited to a certain region, but in the current state of the App Catalog, the main reason for an app to be US only is Palm's complicated app submission form combined with the laziness of programmers with respect to filling out forms and the lack of appeal coming from Palm to encourage programmers to go that extra mile.</p><p>Palm's priority should be 1) fix the app submission process and imparity between regional app catalogs 2) close the loopholes, not the other way round.</p><p>And above all, there are way bigger holes in Palm's security measures to protect (to be) downloaded apps than the one I mentioned.</p>]]></content:encoded>

I'm going to upload it very soon.</p><p>But just a warning: last time Palm reacted very quickly (with the release of IPK Fetcher).. we shouldn't be too loud about this. I don't think Palm has a reason to break this method because only the official App Catalog is downloading the real applications, but you have been warned..</p><p>http://www.nexave.de/forum/38588-ipk-fetcher-der-ipk-downloader.html (new version not uploaded YET)</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Great review!</p><p>i have to agree with you on everything that you said. I think Palm had a gunning chance until Android 2.0</p><p>They still have a chance if they are willing to really open up their hardware market and push the OS. I have a Droid for work and it is a great phone, but I find I like my Pre Plus better, and so does my wife... With the 3d updates and now we know what kind of 3d support is there, it seems that even the fast processor in the Droid (snap dragon) can't keep up with the Pre in 3d acceleration.</p><p>Palm needs to license its O/S to motorola or team up with Motorola and push WebOS mainstream. NO OTHER OS multitasks like it... not even Android 2.1 and for me and other business users, this is a HUGE HUGE advantage.</p>]]></content:encoded>

Environment.DeviceInfo.modelNameAscii}, {key: 'os', data: Mojo.Environment.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thanks for the effort of reporting this. In fact, this bug is already fixed... there are two versions of QR deCODEr:</p><p>The official QR deCODEr app in the app catalog and a semi-official app called QR deCODEr (Rapid Release) being distributed via Palm's Web Distribution program. The first one has to go through Palm's review process everytime an updated versions is submitted, which is why it may take several days up to weeks until bug fixes appear for this version. The second version receives almost instant updates and has the specific bug you described already fixed (for about two weeks now).</p><p>You can either download the Rapid Release version via this link (http://developer.palm.com/appredirect/?packageid=de.juergentreml.preqr-web) or wait a few more days for the same, updated version to appear on the official app catalog.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Small bug report -- try snapping a QR code from the web page at http://www.cyrket.com/p/palm/com.inspiringapps.wumpus/. It decoded fine on the device, but the URL link in the "decoded content" part was split into two links: "http://cyrket.com/qr/" and "9545".</p><p>Note, if I tapped on the globe icon, it seemed to work, so it's probably just a text engine issue.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Great app, thanks! An excellent contribution to the pre app store.</p><p>As a suggestion for further releases: it would be great if the app offered to add vcards directly to the palm address book. Right now, the app sends them as a plain text email which is too complicated for my taste.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>from a technical perspective, yes, probably. I don't know many details about the PDK but I'm pretty confident it'll come with everything preQR needs to do the decoding locally.</p><p>From a more personal point of view: This is a tiny tool being developed in my spare time and which I offer free of any charges, so don't expect too much. I had the PDK in mind when working on preQR and I'm planning to look into this possibility, but no promises. I'm willing to spend only so much time on it.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I recently downloaded and installed fsxget on a secondary computer, with fsx installed on my primary computer. Fsxget worked fine for several flight simulator sessions, until I did a Windows Update on the computer that has fsxget installed. Since that update, fsxget fails to load. The version of fsxget is 0.1 Beta 3. I don't recall exactly what upgrades were installed when I did the windows update. Can you give me some pointers in troubleshooting my problem? Here is the Error signature from the program load failure:</p><p>EventType : clr20r3 P1 : fsxget.exe P2 : 0.1.2966.18355 <br>P3 : 47b405d7 P4 : system.xml P5 : 2.0.0.0 P6 : 492b8670 <br>P7 : 6c1 P8 : 27 P9 : system.xml.xmlexception</p><p>I've tried sending the error report to Microsoft, but it is never sent.</p><p>Both computers are using Windows xp, Professional Edition. I'm pretty sure that sp2 is installed on both. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I immensely enjoyed using fsxget before my problems started and am anxious to get it going again.</p><p>Thanks</p>]]></content:encoded>

User "Roo" has adapted FSXGET to be used together with Google Maps in a website and he's also posted links to see how this works on his website.</p><p>So I guess, the easiest way to figure out how to achieve your goal would be to get in contact with user "Roo" and ask him for the details.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yes, I do actually have one of these. But I must admit I'm not completely sold!</p><p>It works well and does the job, yet I'm a bit disappointed on the screen which does a really bad job in sunlight and the software which isn't too well thought through and also responds a bit slow. The form factor of the devices probably isn't the best choice either (being a bit too broad).</p><p>All in all if feels a little bit cheap, like being an extremely stripped down, cheap version of Magellan's MobileMapper (which it probably is). Again: It's OK and it does the job but you can clearly see that Magellan didn't put too much effort into this device which is a bit sad considering its price point. If I were buying another device with similar price and functionality, I'd definitely have a much closer look at the Garmin Oregon series.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi,</p><p>it's been quite a while since I investigated this topic, so I cannot guarantee that the following is 100% correct.</p><p>As far as I remember, using custom rules was one of the first options I tried by then and as you stated correctly, it can be used to assign a specific category but there's no way to tell it to assign the same category the original mail had. At least, I didn't find a way to do so.</p><p>I finally solved the problem the way described in my post above. At least I thought so, but I must admit, I didn't know that categories will also be transmitted to the recipient along with the mail itself, something I'm honestly not too fond of. But anyway, thanks for the info and the link!</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi</p><p>Could a rule with a custom action be used to apply the category to the sent item?</p><p>In Outlook rules, you can apply a category to sent items, though it only gives you the option to choose a specific one for the rule.</p><p>However there is a "perform a custom action" action in the wizard. I have no idea how to do anything with it, but I have a feeling that it could apply categories to sent items.</p><p>The reason I query a different method to changing the registry key is that using the registry fix means the recipient of your email will also receive your category. See the note on this page: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/41<br>Which could be undesirable in some situations.</p><p>all the best<br>Dave</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yep, you're right so far. A rule of this kind should get you what you're looking for.</p><p>Anyway, there's a few glitches with this:<br>1) You'' end up with a copy of every sent message in your inbox as well as another one in your sent items folder. So make sure to deactivate "save copies of messages in sent items folder" under tools -> options.</p><p>2) As far as I remember, the rule above doesn't take care of replies and forwards in folders other then the inbox folder. So you should also activate the "in folders other than the inbox, save replies with original message" option.</p><p>Finally, remove the "except if sent to my_email" part. It's unnecessary :)</p><p>Btw: Most of this info comes from a blog post a came across some time ago which can be found <a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/outlook/archive/2007/10/05/ultimate-inbox-merging-inbox-and-sent-items-folders.aspx" rel="nofollow">here</a>.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi Jürgen,</p><p>You're right, it works. All the mails I had tested were correctly categorized in the Sent Items folder.</p><p>Hmmm. Let me think, what kind out rule would get me the functionality I described? I see it could be like this :</p><p>"Apply this rule after I send a message<br>assigned to any category<br>move a copy to Inbox folder<br>Except if send to "</p><p>The last exception is there to stop recursion; I don't trust MS enough that they have actually thought that possibility :)</p><p>So, now together with your regedit this rule gets me the functionality I was after.</p><p>Many thanks, this really saves a lot of time. If you can think of better ways/rules of implementing this functionality, please tell me. I find the solution a bit cumbersome still. And I am frankly a little bit scared what happens if I accidentally cc me (hey, the exception only says "sent to") :)</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sorry about the confusion. This solution is meant to assign a category to OUTGOlNG replies and forwards, i.e. messages in the sent items folder, based on the category of the message you're replying to.</p><p>For incoming mail you can just use rules to assign categories.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi,</p><p>I tried this but couldn't make it work. Pretty sure I made the DWORD key ok, restarted Outlook, then tried sending a categorized mail to myself. The incoming mail had no category. That was my understanding that the incoming mail should now have the same category, right? It would be great to get this to work, so if you got more input on things that I could check still, please reply.</p><p>I found out that Outlook has a default rule "Remove category on incoming mail" or something. Disabled that rule, still not getting categories in incoming ones ... any ideas?</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I admit defeat! You're clearly out of luck with your name and Windows TIP. For me, switching the input language from English to German would work, don't even have to switch to the virtual keyboard. Still, for you, switching to German for your last name, then to French for your first name obviously isn't an option.</p><p>Sine I don't like the process of switching too much at all, here's another idea: http://www.juergentreml.de/archives/384</p><p>:-)</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Haha!</p><p>You're complaining about your little problem with your first name!... Just take my name for example: Ever tried to write an "é" and an "ü" in one sentence? Well, I think this combination is quite unusual, but for me, René Hüftlein, this is the most regular printout while starting or ending any document.</p><p>As I'm a "German-only" user there wasn't that big problem to get my surname written soon. But with this french character "é" I had no chance! (As installing any French support for keyboard-layout is no option for a guy who's first action on a new OS is to uninstall the English support...) Finally I resigned after trying to teach my XP Tablet PC Edition for more than 3 months. With Vista it took me just a few minutes to see that nothing changed in this case :( ...</p><p>Now, as Vista users in genereal have to be quite flexible in handling their devices I'm perfectly comfortable with switching my handwriting tool into keyboard mode to type my first name same as I did the last 10 years just as simple as I never had a Tablet PC :)</p>]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I've never tried it so far, so I can't say no for sure but according to Microsoft's documentation on the methods and libraries I'm using in FSXGET, it should require Windows XP SP2 or higher.</p>]]></content:encoded>
